Why Corizon? Specialized DOC and Jail Modules

At Corizon, we understand the unique needs of prison and jail healthcare delivery systems. In addition, we realize that each facility maintains its own particular environment, which often influences the best way to deliver care.
In the fast-paced jail setting, we have established processes associated with patient flow, from intake through discharge. We identify those at risk for substance abuse withdrawal, behavioral health problems, chronic conditions and communicable diseases. Because jail inmate stays are often short, Corizon builds linkages with community care providers – such as substance abuse centers and community health providers – to facilitate follow-up care after release, and implement preventive care and communicable disease prevention processes wherever possible.
In the 14 state prison systems in which we serve, the focus is on managing both acute and chronic conditions. Because of the inmates’ longer lengths of stay, we are able to make measurable improvements in long-term disease management, as well as address patients’ health education needs.
Corizon also offers company-wide clinical initiatives, covering everything from diabetes to cardiac care and emergency management programs. Developed in collaboration with our community partners, these sophisticated programs utilize evidence-based treatment recommendations, and include mentoring and education for providers and nursing staff.
