Karey L. Witty is responsible for setting the strategic direction for Corizon Health as a whole while managing activities between cross-functional teams to ensure goals and objectives are met through open communication and collaboration. He is an accomplished executive with a significant breadth of experience in healthcare operations, finance, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, public equity, banking, risk management and budgeting.
Bringing more than 25 years of expertise and leadership into the correctional healthcare industry, Karey has served as a member of the Corizon Health Board since 2011, and was CFO of Valitás/Correctional Medical Services preceding the merger that formed Corizon Health. Prior to joining Corizon Health, Karey served as CFO for Nashville‐based naviHealth, which provides services to 1.8 million patients through the post‐acute continuum. He was formerly CFO of UnitedHealth Group’s Optum/Physician Solutions Group, bringing together multiple, disparate healthcare platforms into a single operating unit. Karey also served as CFO for HealthSpring, preceding its acquisition by Cigna; and served in a variety of executive positions, including CFO, at Centene Corporation.
Early in his career, he worked with the accounting firm Deloitte & Touche LLP and EQUICOR, Inc. He received his B.A. degree in Accounting/Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University and is a CPA. He has multiple professional affiliations and serves as a board member for a variety of nonprofit and for‐profit organizations.
