About Corizon Health

A Culture of Patient Safety

Corizon Correctional has partnered with the National Patient Safety Foundation

Mortalities from medical errors are reported to be the third leading cause of death in the United States. Patient safety issues are amplified in the correctional healthcare setting where many patients have complex health issues, many have lacked access to primary healthcare, and care must be delivered in an environment built for security. To address this concern, Corizon Health developed a unique Patient Safety program as a standard of excellence for quality, safe patient care in the correctional healthcare setting. Our focus on patient safety recognizes the importance of engagement from our healthcare employees through processes that help them perform well and “do the right thing.”

Corizon is proud to be the first correctional health care company to join the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF), recognizing the value of NPSF’s collaborative approach to advancing patient safety and healthcare workforce safety. Our commitment to the NPSF and dedication to patient safety is exemplified by our endorsement of NPSF’s recently released report, “Free from Harm: Accelerating Patient Safety Improvement Fifteen Years after ‘To Err Is Human’.” To learn more about the National Patient Safety Foundation, visit www.NPSF.org
